About Cultures Clothing Co. and it’s creator
Cultures Clothing was founded in the year 2000 by Alloyius McIlwaine. The line is representative of high fashion, urban wear, and everything in-between for Men, Women, and Children. Cultures Clothing Company wants to show that all nationalities, cultures, or social groups have something interesting or beautiful about them. Your environment has just as much to do with who you are as your nationality, so Cultures Clothing wants to highlight aspects of society as well as the different nationalities around the world. For example, along with influences from different nationalities, you’ll see influences from everything from fine art & high fashion to hip-hop in the clothing as well. On the price tags for the clothing,
Cultures Clothing includes little known or interesting facts about different cultures, to inform people, and to help them to understand that we are all connected. Along with doing pieces of clothing for mass production, many of the pieces from Cultures Clothing are hand-painted and can be customized, so that the consumer can have a one of a kind piece of art to wear!
Alloyius McIlwaine is the founder of Cultures Clothing Company. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At the early age of three, he discovered a love for art, and began to develop a talent for drawing by looking at comic book images, and trying to duplicate them. As he got older, Alloyius began to study various different forms of art, from abstract to fine art...taking classes at Moore College of Art, and at his high school, Friends Select School.
Soon, the seed was planted for the creation of Cultures Clothing when Alloyius began to wonder about how cool it would be if people could wear his art on articles of clothing. Cultures Clothing was then founded in the year 2000 as a t-shirt company. Alloyius started the company as a way to make a little bit of extra money while attending Neumann College (making custom-made hand-painted T-shirts & fulfilling orders)...but as time passed, Alloyius’ love for fashion grew. He soon began to appreciate fashion design as another form of art. Alloyius began to study all different types of fashion, from high fashion to urban to art couture, and he used this knowledge to expand the clothing line into what it is today.
Alloyius Mcilwaine graduated from Neumann College (now Neumann University) with a degree in Business Administration, and is certified in videography by Comcast Cable Communications.
